Volunteer Photographer Position – The Foundation for Human Rights through Photography

The Foundation for Human Rights through Photography is a nonprofit organization dedicated to documenting, sharing, and advocating for human rights through the power of photography. We believe in the power of images to inspire change, educate the public, and empower communities worldwide.

Position Summary

We are seeking talented and passionate Volunteer Photographers to join our team. As a Volunteer Photographer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by capturing compelling images that highlight human rights issues around the world. Your work will be instrumental in our campaigns, exhibitions, and publications, helping to raise awareness and promote social change.

Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Photographer. The Photographer will be responsible for capturing compelling images that tell impactful stories related to human rights. They will collaborate with the team to understand specific photographic needs and deliver high-quality photographs for various projects and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

Photography Projects: Participate in photography projects and assignments to document human rights issues, including fieldwork and events. Creative Collaboration: Work closely with our team to develop visual storytelling strategies that align with our mission and campaigns. Photo Editing: Edit and prepare images for publication, ensuring they meet the foundation’s quality and ethical standards. Archive Management: Assist in managing our photo archive, including cataloging, tagging, and organizing images. Qualifications

Proficiency in photography techniques, including composition, lighting, and editing

Experience using professional photography equipment and software

Demonstrated ability to capture impactful and emotionally engaging images

Strong visual storytelling skills

Ability to work independently and take initiative

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Passion for human rights and social justice

Portfolio showcasing previous photography work

Passionate about human rights and social justice.

Professional or advanced amateur photography skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates your ability.

Proficiency in photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).

Ability to work independently and in team settings.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.

Willingness to undertake assignments with sensitivity and respect for subjects and communities.

Commitment

This is a volunteer position. We are looking for individuals who can commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week for at least 8 months. Assignments may vary in location, and some may require travel.
